Happy World Food Day!

On this day we delve deeper into our shared values of health, community and sustainability to raise awareness about global food insecurity. Together we can create positive change and build a healthier and food-secure future for people across the globe.

World Food Day commemorates the establishment of the United Nation Organisation's Food and Agriculture Association on the 16th October in 1945. The 2020 theme for World Food Day is 'Grow, Nourish, Sustain, Together'. When we believe that our actions are our future then it resets our decisions, we look to our community and know that what we do impacts our people, planet and the generations to come. Food truly is a human necessity and the foundation for positive global change.

We were overjoyed when we heard theNobel Peace Prize for 2020 was awarded to the World Food Programme. Their efforts to combat hunger, create better food security for people in conflict-affected areas and improve the lives of millions of families and communities each year are truly inspiring.

Nobody should have to worry where their next meal will come from or when it will be, but this is a reality for millions of people, every single day. It was in 2015 when Jake Mckeon,Coconut Bowls Founder, spent a year backpacking the rice and bean trail through Central America and South-East Asia that his eyes were opened to the global food crisis. His experiences in poverty-stricken regions contrasted so harshly with the abundant life back home in Australia that Jake committed himself andCoconut Bowls to be a positive force for the health of people and the planet.
